I'm not even gonna sit here & act like I was his biggest fan, but he always seemed really cool & laid back. I'd heard that he battled drug addiction & a huge weight problem before but he overcame them both. Then less than a year ago, him & Travis Barker survive a plane crash where everyone else but them died. Now it looks like he's overdosed on drugs. I'm not saying drugs are the way to deal with anything, but it really saddens me. Obviously the man had some deep-seated issues, and apparently a recent breakup put him over the edge. It's just all very, very sad. Can you imagine the horror he went through during that crash and the things he saw? Ugh, i can't even imagine. You almost can't lame him for having a relapse. People keep saying "he had a second chance at life and he threw at away for drugs!". What the heck? How can anyone be so judgmental of a dead person? That's always bugged the crap out of me. Anyone who can openly mock a dead person is an ass, flat out. Let the poor man rest. I hope he finds peace now.

I know religion isn't a topic commonly discussed on most of the blogs I read, but I'd been wanting to blog about this for a while. I, like most of you probably are (statistically speaking), am a Christian. I wouldn't consider myself to be a "super-Christian", but a Christian non-the-less. I think I lead a pretty conservative life, but I'd definitely consider myself a liberal because I believe people should have the legal right to do whatever they, within reason. I see no problem with being gay, pre-marital sex, etc. I'm kind of rambling, but do you think a devout Christian could date and or marry an atheist and it would actually work? In my world, religion is really important. I don't talk about it 24/7 because i don't believe in pushing my beliefs on other people, but how could one be in a relationship who feels the exact opposite of something that's SO important to you?

Personally, I don't think I could deal with it. What about you girls? Have you ever dated someone with opposite beliefs or known someone who did?

Wow, can you believe it's been EIGHT YEARS since she died? Crazy. I remember when I found out. I was at home watching TV and it came on the news. I couldn't believe it. She was so beautiful & talented and always seemed to genuine and down to Earth. and one of the things I admired most about her is that she wasn't raunchy, but she still managed to be sexy, but not flat out SEXUAL.

I was so affected by her death. Hers was the first celebrity death that I actually really paid attention to. She was from where I'm from (Detroit) and I had been listening to her since her first song. I remember the first time I heard "Back & Forth" I was outside at some picnic or something in KINDERGARTEN (boy, does that make me feel old! lol). When she died, it really taught me something; life can be incredibly short and end abruptly. Who would ever think they'd die in a place crash in the Bahamas after shooting a video at the young age of 22?

cosmetology school, i'm on my way!

well, sort of.

i've been wanting to go for yeeeeeears, but it never worked out. i always wanted to go, but i just kind of accepted that i never would, that it was just a hobby.

but, over the past year, i realized i can do ANYTHING i put my mind to. and then i lost my job last week and the hours interfered with the schedule of the school i want to go to, so now i have nothing holding me back!

so, i'm gonna go on a tour of this particular school i want to go to. i know of 3 people i went to HS with that went there and they LOVED it and they're doing so well and after the finished, they're all pursuing bachelor's degrees which is my plan. if i go full time, i'll be done in 10 months which is great!

so, some little shitheads decided to go on a car vandalism spree last night and they hit a few cars. and mine was one. they slashed a bunch of tires, and they did that to my car. fortunately, it was only 1 tire, and i ended up getting a cheap used one and my aunt paid for it (thanks Aunt Dee!), cuz i just lost my job a week ago.

blahhh, i wish stupid crap would stop happenening.

whoever did this is an idiot. they squirted mustard all over this one guy's car & they put newspapers all over it and tried to set the papers on fire. (what the phuck?!) and they threw a brick through one girl's window. it's so juvenile. and they even went in our yard and stole my grandpa's peaches that he'd worked so hard on! and his tomatoes. and he takes such pride in his garden. i'm like 99% sure of who did it. stupid hood possum, ugh.

according to my boss, i'm not earning my pay. even though i get there early every damn day, work while i'm off the clock to help her out & do a million jobs that are NOT in my job description.

i lost my financial stability when she died, as she was my only parent.

why can't people say it anymore? this is probably my BIGGEST pet peeve. when i was little, even when someone did the smallest thing for me, my mom would always say "what do you say, Paige?" and i knew that meant it was time to say "thank you". when you're little, you don't really understand what it means i guess, but the older you get, the more you realize what it means. i just don't understand what happened to manners. i think saying thanks is one of the easiest and NICEST things you can do!

random thought: am i the only one who finds it completely hilarious when people named Chastity are CLEARLY not chaste?

so, about a month ago (July 10th), it was my mom's first b-day in heaven. I was actually holding up better than thought. of course i missed her, but i was fine. i had a lot of thoughts going through my head so i just went for a walk to clear my head. then i chilled out for a little bit and on my way to the shower to get reay for work, *SOMEONE* took it upon themselves to yell at me. they shall remain nameless, but it was a relative, it was NOT one of my grandparents. it was just ridiculous. this person told me i had no initiative or motivation and i wasn't doing enough. i was in school 23 freaking hours a week and working 20 hours a week. leaving home at 7:30 am and getting home at 10:30 pm, and getting up at 6 the next day. yeah, i'm not doing enough. and dare i say it: i truly think grief is a full time job.it really is. it takes SO MUCH out of you. going to work is one thing, but going to school & trying to do well while dealing with that is just, ugh. i was totally fine til then, but after this person's little tyrade, i cried and cried for a good hour. normally it wouldn't bug me so much, but everything just got to me at that moment. but i got myself together for work. got there, did the usual. called people. answered the phones and took a couple payments from customers. so, this one guy comes in, and he always pays in exact change. i forget his exact total, but i remember the change was like, 24 cents. so, he gave me the cash and 24 cents in change, and i usually never really look, but something possessed me to look at the change, and i looked down, and my grandpa & i (mostly him, haha), collect coins, and a noticed one was what's called a "wheathead" penny. and they're old, they stopped making them in 1958 i think. so i just looked at it, and i flipped it over, curious to see what year it was from cuz i knew it was old, and it was from 1954! the year my mom was born! she knew i needed a sign or something from her. i had been feeling really down, and missing her so much. i haven't dreamed about her in forever and i guess she knew i needed that. i'm so glad she sent it to me. so i replaced it with one of my own pennies and gave it to my boss to take it to the bank & i kept the penny for myself.

it's just too coincidental to be an actual coincedence, or "co-een-kee-deenk" as my mom used to say, haha.

just wanted to share. to anyone who's ever lost a loved one, friend, whatever, even if you're feeling lonely, just know they're always, ALWAYS looking over you, even if it doesn't feel like it. my mom was the closest person to me in the world and it still feels like a really, really bad dream. even as recently as the other day, i picked up the phone to call her and realized i couldn't! i just wish it would feel more real already, but what are ya' gonna do?

Extensions: how long is TOO long?

i currently wear 14 inches, but i trim them, so it's actually shorter, plus i assume they don't count the inch or so that's wound up in the weft, so i've been thinking about going longer. like maybe 16 inches, maybe 18? but i don't wanna look like a video vixen, lol.

"Good Hair"--the movie & the reality

so, i was watching "Wendy Williams" [boy, half my posts are getting to be about this woman, lol, but i LOVE her show!] and she played the trailer for a Chris Rock documentary called "Good Hair". i believe it's supposed to be released nationwide on October and i cannot wait to see it. long story short; the movie is about how we as a race feel about our hair. personally, i don't think how you style your hair has ANYTHING to do with how you feel about your race. i straighten my hair to the dickens & i wear 14 inches of remi hair [love it!] and i'm completely proud to be black! i just think i look better with long hair & my hair won't get that long on it's own. and i like how manageable my hair is when it's straight. why do so many "natural" sisters feel the need to say that women who use chemicals, etc. are shunning their heritage? hair is hair. do what you want with it. if you wanna wear dreads, cool. if you want a long, ice blond weave down to your ankles, fine.

speaking of "good hair", what is GOOD HAIR to you? i've always heard this term, and everytime someone would say it around my mom she would say, "everything God made is good!" (she was SO WISE, i miss her so much), and it's true. why is some hair "GOOD" and others' "bad"? as most of us know, lots of Black people usually will say it's hair that's long, curly, no "kitchen", smooth on the edges, & very soft. the fact of the matter is, most of us don't have hair like that! if you're 100% black, it's probably jet black, coarse, kinky & your edges DO NOT lay down, lol. and there's nothing wrong with that! i wish we could learn to stop calling it "good" hair. hair is hair & everyone is beautiful.
