high school.

recently, i've been thinking & reminiscing and i can't believe how much i miss high school!

now, i didn't go to a "normal" high school, well, i guess the word "normal" is relative. anywho, i went to an all-girls catholic school. sounds like hell to some people, but i LOVED it. i made some of the best friends ever & when you're around all girls, you really get to see who you REALLY are because the pressure of looking cute for boys & worrying what they say/think wasn't an issue. now, we did have an all boy's school directly next door but we never really saw much of each other except before & after school and once when we had a joint assembly for a chastity talk. haha.

i don't know what really made me write this. i'm bored & i felt like blogging SOMETHING & this has been on my mind a lot. life was so much easier for the most part. didn't have to worry about a damn thing. well,i was having a lot of issues during that time about my dad not being around because i went to a school where i'd guess 85% or more of the students' parents are still MARRIED. i think you'd only see a statistic like that at a Catholic school, lol. aside from that, it was pretty good.

ohhh boy do i miss my plaid skirt, polo shirt & vest. also i loved wearing tube socks as knee socks (HA!) and last but not least, the SADDLE SHOES! yes, they were mandatory! that was even out school mascot.

boy oh boy what i'd do to go back for 4 more years. life was so much simpler. but, life goes on...


here's me & my best friend ever. this was on "sophomore day". it's when the sophomore class picks their class colors, mascot, flower, quote, etc. if i'm doing the math right, this was february 2003. wow. ha.

yes, she has on a pink rubber pencil skirt & a black pvc bra. and on top of that, this picture was taken in January in London. doesn't her body look sick in it? ah, i love it.

Then there was this bubble dress. now usually a bubble dress is one of those dresses where it's like, poofy on the bottom because the lower part of the dress is folded under. idk how to explain it [lol], but you ladies know what i meant. but this is lady gaga's interpretation of a bubble dress:

and when i saw this, i realized how BAMF she is.

Aside from her delicious style, what about that music of hers?

I love it! it's bordering on the edge of techno without being annoying as hell. I wouldn't go so far as to say she has the greatest voice ever, like I can't imagine her singing a ballad, but something about her voice is great. It goes so well with the beats in her songs. She seems like a TRUE artist & there aren't many of those now. I also love her blatant honesty. In magazine interviews, she claims all she wanted for Valentine's Day was "carbs & sex", and while I don't agree with this, she admits to "starving" herself to stay skinny. Boooo. I hope teenage girls don't follow that, but I hope they pay attention to her individuality & that she's not a total cookie cutter.

I hope she keeps up the good work && has many, MANY more hits. I love to dance in my room to her songs, ha. she gets me so pumped for like, everything.


p.s., has anyone ever noticed that she looks just like Amy Winehouse, minus the crackheaded-ness?

The bow headband to end ALL bow headbands.

I nearly fainted when i saw this. I was casually walking through Claires with my aunt, planning on not buying anything cuz i'm poor as balls & suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, i saw it there, calling my name... "paiiiiige", it whispered,"PAIIIIIGEEEE, come get me", so i turned. and what do i see? a silver headband with a metal bow, encrusted in rhinestones. Lord help me!

It was the most beautiful sight. I couldn't stop "omg-ing" in the store. & i usually never try on headbands cuz who the hell knows who tried it on before & what they have, but i had to try this one on. omg. it was beautiful.

I have a serious addiction to headbands. I have probably almost 30. it's so tragic. but this is my far, my favorite. I also have a thing for bows, so it just made my life.

her style is crazy. in a GOOD way! i love it. i love she isn't afraid to experiment. with crazy colors, patterns, and let's not forget that infamous hair! she wasn't the first person to get a bob, obviously, but she clearly started that trend last year. all of a sudden girls who couldn't go without their extensions were chopping it all off for the rihanna bob. i also love how she's tatted. her's are actually really cute & not like these bullshit tattoos i see on these classy (ha) women around detroit. her's are well placed, nicely drawn & seem to have meaning.
and have you guys seen the shoes this lady wears sometimes?! man.

forever 21 & wetseal have always had such cute clothes, but they stop at a large. i wear an xl. it always bugged me... i can see them not selling 3x's & 4x's & stuff, but no xl? c'mon. plenty of people wear an xl. and it may not even be fat, some girls just have tog ole' bitties! (that's not my excuse, ha). but i was glad to see that they finally came to their senses and added plus sized clothing. 

wet seal goes up to a size 24 & 3x now. however, it's only available online, which is kind of annoying. but hey, rome wasn't built in a day. hopefully soon they'll include plus sizes in their stores.

forever21 goes up to a 2x & the biggest number size i saw was a 16. seriously? that's barely plus-sized... anyway, they had some cute things. mostly shirts.

i ordered 2 dresses, here they are. also, the plus sized line is called "faith21" and i believe it's actually available in store. i'm not sure though. but i stil ordered online.

must haves [for the girls]

so, here's a list of 5 things i think every girl should have to bring out her inner diva.

1. some really good smelling lip gloss

i love these. i got them at victoria's secret. the lighter one is "slice of cake" & it smells like vanilla cake with yummy frosting. and the pink one is "i want candy". sometimes when i'm bored i put it on just to smell it. ha. it makes me happy. and well, who doesn't like well-glossed lips?

2. a bright, semi-crazy nail color.

 

this is some cheap junk i got at the beauty supply store. you get 3 for $1 (no lie). it chips like crazy and you have to apply 3 or 4 coats for it to look decent. lol, but i really liked the color. in case you wanna know, it's "santa fe" by missi. eh, what can you expect for 33 cents? ps, sorry i'm terrible at polishing nails. it's all on my skin & ish. pardon my sloppiness... it'll come off in the shower tomorrow.

3. a secret piercing

this is my tragus piercing. it's awesome. i like it cuz it's visible, but not TOO visible. i work at an insurance company, so obviously i can't walk in there with a tongue ring & septum piercing, right? but, my favorite piercing was my belly button. i loved it. i always felt like i had a little secret that no on really knew about it. i always kept cute, sparkly, dangly jewelry in it. but unfortunately, my body rejected it. but i'm gonna get it redone soon i think. it's gonna be my reward after i lose some more weight.

4. a special piece of jewelry

i got this tiffany bracelet for my 18th birthday. i'm 21 now. i ALWAYS have it on. the only time i've taken it off is to clean it and for when my clumsy ass broke it, ha. when i say "special", that doesn't necessarily mean it has to be expensive, because this wasn't that expensive. it's from tiffany & co., yes, but it's silver, it was less than $200. i just think it's really cute. and it reminds me of my mommy everytime i look at it.

& last but not least...

5. some fierce heels!

what really needs to be said about heels? they make you feel cute, taller, flirty & all around more fierce. not to mention they make it look like you spent hours in the gym on your legs cuz when you wear them, your muscles have to flex. i got these from DSW. they're BCBG Girls and they actually came in my size! it's so hard to find shoes to fit my feet. i wear a size 10 or 10.5 or 11. yeah, yeah. don't make fun. but when i find a pair of cute heels that fit & they don't kill my feet & they don't cost a million dollars, i must get them!
