ok, somehow at work, we got on the topic of names and if we "matched" our names. my name is paige, (duh, lol) and they decided i look like a monica or elizabeth. for some reason all the ignorant hoodrats think my name is so freakin' ugly and weird. um, ok. my mom picked out my name before i was even thought about it. she picked it for sound and meaning, it means "Servant". i used to ask her why she'd name me that, and she told me "think about it Paige; of all the greatest people in the world, they've all been servants" good point. very smart lady. then someone asked what my middle name was. some people knew it, some didn't, but it's my mom's maiden name. i dont wanna put it on here for privacy reasons, but it starts with W. and it's clearly a last name, not something that could pass for a first name like Madison or something. now, this one girl in particular knows my mother has passed away. and she flat out said "ok, i know about your mom... but that was so stupid. that's dumb" and proceeded to laugh hysterically along with all the other hood creatures. what. the. fuck. my mom gave me that last name because all my cousins are girls. the last men are my grandpa and uncle, and when they pass away and their daughters got married, the name was gonna go with them. and my mom was into genealogy and ancestry and she wanted someone to have the name. i told the girl this and she laughed like it was the dumbest shit she'd ever heard and said no one should do that and it was dumb. i was pissed. this happened about 8 or 9 hours ago and i am still LIVID over it. say whatever the fuck you want about me, but how DARE YOU talk about any decision my deceased mother made. she never even met her and she knows i'm sensitive about it!

SHIT LIKE THIS IS WHY I DON'T TELL PEOPLE THINGS ABOUT MYSELF. damn that pisses me off!

omg, i've been so neglectful!

so sorry loves. i've been crazy busy with school and work, i have like, ZERO downtime. =[

anyway, i haven't been up to much... started the new semester, it's going pretty well so far. i'm in 2 classes, that's all i could fit into my work schedule. reason #878767878978 why i need to find a new one... i'm blessed to have a job in the frist place, but i need to be a student first & foremost, and that's just impossible there. they don't care that you're in school and won't chance your schedule. whatever.

haven't done much shopping either to tell you guys about... however, i did order from the nyx $1 sale. bought 14 eyeshadows! can't wait for them to get here. it's gonna take forever though because the demand was so high. i'm really excited for them to get here. i got some really pretty colors!

i went to my first club on NY Day (not eve, i just stayed in), and it was a BLAST. i was scared to go, idk why, but it was sooo much fun. Went with my best friend Jessy & her bf and some of their friends, they were all super cool. i got wasted out of my damn mind, omg. i've only been drunk 3 other times but i wasnt out at a club. haha, i apparently fell out of a chair and i have no recollection. i learned my lesson. i love being 21 though and i plan on clubbing again, SOON!

i'm seriously confused. a lot of the ladies i follow are college students but you guys seem to have hella money for non-stop mac purchases, lol. i have a job, i work about 35 hours a week, and i'm making decent money but i never seem to have any money the last couple days before i get my next cheek. so i just suck at life? or do you guys have some sort of side hustle to fuel your makeup addictions? cuz i need one. i do my own extensions (sew in) and i'm thinking about doing that on the side, but i tried to practice on my cousin and it was so pretty but she took it down seriously 3 days later and she wouldn't let me style it right when i did it so i got pissed and let her finish it herself.

so, it's been just over a week since a joined the gym and, well, i hate working out! lol. i hate sweating and i hate how i feel when i'm done (EXHAUSTED!) i wanna be one of those people who LOVES working out but i don't think it's ever gonna happen for me, haha. however, in the long run, it's SO worth it. i just wanna be healthy and skinner =]. i could care less about being flat out skinny, i just wanna be thinner, healthier and more energetic.

i usually just do the bike for 20-30 mins and i do some weight training for another 10 or 15.

i'm gonna start taking pics so i can track how much smaller i'm getting by the week. i don't have a specific weight goal to meet, i just want to lose some. hell, i don't even know exactly how much i weigh. do i have an estimate? yes. do i care to share? hell no. ha.

it's official.

i've become one of those people who DESPISES the holidays. and i can't believe that i', one of those people and that i'm admitting it, but it's time to stop being in denial. i hate feeling this way. I still believe Jesus is the reason for the season, but NOTHING is the same since my mom passed away. she was the most important person in my life, my best friend, my confidante; just my everything. i till can't believe she's
gone. Christmas used to be the best time ever. I was the only child so I go damn near whatever I wanted, which was lovely, but not the best part! I loved decorating the tree with her, putting up the lights, shopping for HER and making her feel special. but now... i don't look forward to it. I was a legal adult when she died, but I was NOT ready for it. I was away at school enjoying being a carefree student and then, BAM, she's gone and all that's over. I MISS HER. i miss my old life. I miss talking to her. i miss her hugs and I just miss having a mother. I get to watch all my cousins and friends have TWO parents and I have none. It pisses me off, but I'm happy for them becuase I wouldn't want this for anyone else. not even my absolutele worst enemy. I wanna cry just thinking about it.

I just want my old life back! I feel like I have to worry about more shit than an average 21 year old and it's not even my fucking fault!

as a lot of you probably know, i am a complete MAC whore. it's my favorite makeup brand and always will be, but i decided to check out some drugstore brands for a while. i had a few things before, but i almost never used them with the exception of mascara because MAC mascara makes my eyes BURN like no other. (anyone else have this problem?)

I've been wanting to try the Loreal HIP eyeshadows for a while and i finally did and i think i'm in love! I got the duo called Platinum. It's a super pigmented silver and a black. now, in the pics that silver showed up like that in one swipe, but the black, it took 3 swipes for me to get it that dark. i'm not too impressed with the black, but I got it mostly becasue I wanted a silver shadow. The silver is a metallic. Very, very shiny and the black is basically matte with few & far between silver glitter in there. I will definitely be wearing this a lot!

Also, i got the new Maybelline Line Stiletto liquid eyeliner and i'm not that impressed. it's super dark which i love, but it's really messy IMO and it's not available in waterproof! boo! It has a felt tip instead of the usual brush and the felt tip gives you a lot more control which I love.

The last thing I got: Maybelline Define a lash eyeliner. just kinda "eh" about this. plain black eyeliner. It came with a smudger on the end which is cool, and it glides on REALLY nice and smooth, but it's just your run of the mill eyeliner i guess.

I will DEFINITELY be getting more HIP eyeshadows! Do you ladies love them too? any suggestions for good colors?

i used all MAC products unless noted.

eyes:
the dark part, i used Beauty Marked. kind of between purple & black. super pretty up close though.
the neutral part: Cover Girl e/s quad in Country Woods. I used the last color in the set.
for the white: Sea Myth. I believe this was a limited edition collection because it comes in a seafoam green case instead of the typical black MAC packaging. I got it a few years back.
mascara: my HG, Cover Girl Lash Blast waterproof in very black

cheeks:
Sweet as Cocoa
then a little Ambering Rose on top
and then I used Trade Gold as a highlight (down the nose, across the forehead, TINY bit on cheeks"

well, thanksgiving's technically over, but i still wanted to take the time out to blog about what i'm thankful for. i've had a rough couple years, but through it all, i've made it through because of the man upstairs. <3

next, my lovely friends. so many have been there to listen to me cry & whine and i really do appreciate it.

and my finals thanks thanks is to my family and family friends who have been amazing for the most part. ESPECIALLY my lovely grandparents who i'd do anything for. as long as i'm around, i promise they will never need anything and most of their wants will be taken care of because they deserve it! they have been the most supportive people i could ever ask for.

i'm also thankful for my health, my much improved state of mind, the fact that i have a job, a roof over my head, food in my greedy mouth, etc.

this is the most miserable job i've ever had. to start it off; some days i get off at 11. one day at midnight and one day at 3:45.

here's what goes down: you get there. pray you find a computer that actually works. found one? good. log in. pray someone left a phone at your station. no such luck? look around all fucking day for one. plug it in. completely static-y. perfection. take 20 mins to find another one that works. JACKPOT. the computer starts dialing numbers. let the yelling, cursing and "DON'T CALL HERE EVER AGAIN"'s begin. *sigh* just the start of a 7 hour shift.

we can legally call people from 8am to 9pm. and the national do not call list? psh. we're exempt. awesome.

seriously, i cannot wait to find a new job. i've come home and cried because of the way people talk to me. i mean, i know being solicited is annoying but just fucking hang up, there is no need to curse and stuff, ugh. we are PEOPLE too.

omg, i've been so busy.

sorry i've been neglecting all you lovely ladies! this work schedule is CRAZYYYY and i'm looking for a new job too so it's been really crazy. on top of that, after much consideration and deciding that things were getting out of hand; i started grief counseling to deal with my mom's death. i only started 2 weeks ago but i feel SO DRAINED after, but it really does help just to talk about it.

also, i've been obsessed with glamour mag lately. it's my new favorite!

then i went on a ring spree!

got one at Ashley Stewart and 2 at Avenue. I usually don't shop at plus size stores cuz i really don't like the stuff they, but most stores stop at a ring size 8 and i'm like a 9, so, yep.

aren't they super cute? the huge white one is actually stretchy. it's kind of uncomfy actually, but i'm willing to sacrifice for cuteness =]

Unless you’re living a seriously alternative lifestyle, you’ve probably been communicating via text for a while now. You text your friends, your boyfriend(s) — even your parents. It’s quick, convenient, and usually makes your life a helluva lot more pleasant...except when you come face to face with the 10 worst texting offenses in the world. Check ’em out below, plus some advice on how to stop offenders in their tracks.

1. The Mass Text
It’s Friday night, you’re at home on the couch, and you get a text that goes something like this: “What are you getting into tonight?” You know for a fact that this very same text just went out to 20 other people at exactly the same time, and that the sender is just waiting to receive all his/her options before deciding what to do. So what if the only thing you have planned for the night is that lame-ass (but sooo good) Lifetime movie at 11? You refuse to hang out with someone unless they make specific plans to hang out with you. You know how you can block those newsletters that you never signed up for by sending an e-mail with “unsubscribe” in the body? We suggest doing the same thing in a reply-text.

2. The Texting Cult
There is always at least one point in the night — a lull in the conversation, a pause between thoughts — when it gets really quiet, and you look around and realize that all your friends are busy texting. One person pulls out her iPhone while everyone else is looking at the dinner bill, and then someone else starts doing it, and before you know it, you’re in the middle of the sacred circle of text. Resist the urge to choose some random person in your contacts to send a useless message to. Instead, pull out your phone and send a text to everyone at the table asking, “Should we order another drink?” It will make everyone laugh but also point out the silliness of the situation.

3. The Double Message
Of course you screen calls. Everyone does. Sometimes you’re in the middle of something and sometimes you just don’t feel like talking. But your phone is still working, and you see the missed call and the voice message alert. So why — why?! — do certain people feel the need to send a text letting you know that they just left a message? Don’t they realize that if someone is smart enough to read a text, they’re also capable of understanding what the little bobble head with the sound waves coming out of him symbolizes? Text back, “What’s next, a carrier pigeon?”

4. The Texting Tease
You’re seeing a really cute/smart/funny/cool new guy, and your heart skips a tiny beat every time you get a text from him. In the middle of the week, you get one asking what you’re up to this weekend. Assuming he wants to do something together, you let him know that it’s looking pretty relaxed so far. Does he then proceed to make a plan with you? No. He responds, “Oh okay, cool.” You stand there with a perplexed look on your face. Respond “Yeah, but call my secretary if you want to schedule something.” This way, the ball is in his court, but ultimately you’re the one who is in charge, thanks to your confident attitude.

5. The Bulk Texter
An example of what a series of texts from this person might look like:
Text 1: Hey!
Text 2: What’s up?
Text 3: What are you doing tonight?
Text 4: Some of us are going to Cool People Bar tonight.
Text 5: Around 10
Text 6: It’s gonna be me and Chris
Text 7: Are you coming?
Text 8: Let us know
Text 9: Byeee!
Text 10: lolz

An example of what that exchange should look like:
Text 1: Hey, Chris and I are going to Cool People Bar around 10 tonight. Let us know if you wanna come.

An example of what you could text back:
Text 1: Please
Text 2: never

6. The Bored Texter
You’ve just finished a sufficiently long and entertaining texting exchange with someone, and now you’re ready to put your phone down for a little while. But your phone dings, and it’s another text from said person. It looks like this: “Soooo...” Or, “What upppp.” Or, “la la la...” Clearly, they have nothing else to say and just want something to do. Send a text saying, “Running, watching movies, reading books, baking.” Your buddy will get the point that some people actually have a life.

7. The Show-and-Teller
Love is wonderful. We’re huge advocates of love and being in love and enjoying that love. People gushing on and on about their amazing love life? Not so much. Not only do you have to listen to them tell every insignificant story about how cute it was that their boyfriends ate pancakes for dinner and woke up with a funny hairdo, but you also have to read all of their SUPER-cute texts. “Guys, look what he wrote to me! and I was just sitting here thinking about how much i used to HATE MY NAME! ahhh, I seriously hated it 'til I was probably like 16. When I was 10 or 11 I actually started telling people my name was Ashley cuz I wanted a more "normal" name, lol. I was such a weirdo. But now that I think about it, I LOVE my name! It's different & it stands out. & I only know a few Paiges, but we are all awesome, if i say so myself.

My mom had always told me my name was picked out before my parents even got married. She heard it in the movie, "Jagged Edge" & fell in love. She also told me what it meant, and she told me it meant "servant" and I got a little alarmed cuz who the hell aspires to be a servant, and my mom looked at me and said "Paige, out of all the greatest people in the world, aren't they all serving someone?" and I didn't think of that until she said it, but it's so true! When I first heard servant, I thought of like a maid or something, but think about it: all the greatest people are helping others! Doctors, lawyers, presidents and my mom was one too! She devoted her entire life & career to helping the people of Detroit, especially the low income, be the best they can be!

Anyway, did any of you guys hate your name growing up? Or did you always love it?

just a little list of goals i want to accomplish in the VERY near future.

1. lose weight. i'm getting a gym membership soon, i feel so "blah" not that i've pretty much stopped working out. not to mention flabby, lol.

2. getting my braces back on! i had them when i was younger, didn't finish (long, stupid story that just pisses me off. i'd like to thank my dead beat father for this one) and now i'm worse off than before. they're not completely busted or anything, lol. but i need them back on.

3. get my real estate AND p & c insurance licenses. seriously, when the economy picks back up, this is gonna be a great career.

4. find the love of my life. i know this isn't gonna just happen right away, but that's really the only thing i've ever wanted for myself more than ANYTHING. all the money in the world means nothing if you don't have unconditional love behind you <3

so, about 3 months ago (July 10th), it was my mom's first b-day in heaven. I was actually holding up better than thought. of course i missed her, but i was fine. i had a lot of thoughts going through my head so i just went for a walk to clear my head. then i chilled out for a little bit. then i got ready for work. got there, did the usual. called people. answered the phones and took a couple payments from customers. so, this one guy comes in, and he always pays in exact change. i forget his exact total, but i remember the change was like, 24 cents. so, he gave me the cash and 24 cents in change, and i usually never really look, but something possessed me to look at the change, and i looked down, and my grandpa & i (mostly him, haha), collect coins, and a noticed one was what's called a "wheathead" penny. and they're old, they stopped making them in 1958 i think. so i just looked at it, and i flipped it over, curious to see what year it was from cuz i knew it was old, and it was from 1954! the year my mom was born! she knew i needed a sign or something from her. i had been feeling really down, and missing her so much. i haven't dreamed about her in forever and i guess she knew i needed that. i'm so glad she sent it to me. so i replaced it with one of my own pennies and gave it to my boss to take it to the bank & i kept the penny for myself.

it's just too coincidental to be an actual coincedence, or "co-een-kee-deenk" as my mom used to say, haha. [why do moms always have little sayings like that?]

just wanted to share. to anyone who's ever lost a loved one, friend, whatever, even if you're feeling lonely, just know they're always, ALWAYS looking over you, even if it doesn't feel like it. my mom was the closest person to me in the world and it still feels like a really, really bad dream. even as recently as the other day, i picked up the phone to call her and realized i couldn't! i just wish it would feel more real already, but what are ya' gonna do?

8. my faith isn't as strong as it used to be, but my morals are very strong these days. i think? lol. i really REALLY try and stay away from things i know i don't have any business doing. some people might call it being a baby or immature, or "high school", but i really think it makes me more mature to be able to say NO, then wind up with some consequences i'm not ready for.
9. i hate arguing. even if things build up in me, i'd rather have peace than a huge argument. unhealthy? yes. but i'm working on it.
10. no matter what, nail polish will not stay on my nails. it's so damn annoying! i've tried everything. so, now i wear acrylics, but what i've been doing recently is just putting a thin layer on my natural nails so the polish sticks. works like a charm!

poor little Shiloh was a 10 year old girl born with "Mermaid Syndrome"/ Basically, her legs were fused together and her entire uro-genital and some of her digestive system were abnormal due to this. I've seen her on tv a few times and she was so funny! i just wanted to give the poor baby a hug. They didn't think she'd even live to be a few days old because of all the health problems associated with her syndrome but she lived to 10, and unfortunately, something as relatively common as a cold is what killed her.

if you've never seen her on tv, here's a video of here. very inspirational. she was so positive in spite of it all!

i've been meaning to blog about this for a while now. about a month, actually and it all started one stupid day at work. it's a long story, but i had to sit in a different section at work than i usually do and i ended up next to this guy and we really, REALLY hit it off. we flirted all day and texted all that night, then a couple days later he tells me we need to stop cuz he has a girlfriend of over a year. perfect. why do i bother liking anyone? anyway, that's beside the point. he mentioned a couple hours after knowing me that he had a 3 year old son, and that kinda made me step back. now, don't get me wrong, kids are an absolute blessing and i can't wait to have my own some day and i know that there are PLENTY of people my age with children, but i'm just not ready yet, and i feel like when you're dating someone with a child--you're almost like a step-parent and i sure as hell ain't ready for that!

what do you guys think? i mean, it's awesome that he has a baby and that he supports him, and i really honestly don't know if i would have pursued it any further had it turned out he didn't have a g/f. i mean, as far as i'm concerned, i won't be ready to deal with any children until i'm done with school and married and playing step mom is a big responsibility. kids are great, but i'm just not at a point in my life where i feel like i can handle that.

check out the trailer! as most of us remember, Heath Ledger passed away January, 2008 (it was THAT long ago?! seems like it just happened), anyway, this is the movie he was working on when he died. It wasn't finished, so they had to completely rework the parts he didn't finish and his part was filled in by Johnny Depp, Colin Ferrell and Jude Law (idk if this is true, but i heard they were all donating 100% of their paychecks to Heath's daughter, Matilda). it looks really good! one of those "visual" movies i love. like "Moulin Rouge", and "Willy Wonka". Good movies, but they're also REALLY pretty to look at. "Imaginarium" looks pretty interesting! can't wait to see it! what do you guys think of this? i'm sure some of you reading this are cohabitating. do you think it's good or bad? for the people who aren't; would you ever do it? why or why not?

personally, i find the notion completely non-romantic. some people find it very sweet when their significant other asks them to move in, but um, it just doesn't sound appealing. when you get married; isn't like half the fun the fact that you finally get to live together? and it almost seems like, inappropriate, for lack of a better word. everybody in your family is gonna know you're fucking! lol, idk, maybe i'm just a prude, but i just wouldn't want my family thinking of me like that until i got married. idk, maybe i'm just old fashioned...

eh, just some things. a buddy from HS is moving in with her BF tmrw & i'm happy for them, they seem very in love and like a great couple!

p.s. my eye's been twitching for like 3 days now and and it's driving me NUTS. AH!

i know i pretty much dropped off the face of the [blogging] earth, but i just had to post this. i stumbled across it by accident, i'm actually really not a fan of paparazzi taking pics of celebrities' kids, but she doesn't seem scared or anything in this pic.

anyway, how precious is she?! omg! i think she's one of the cutest babies i've ever seen. her little leggings & tunic and the cropped jacket, haha. absolutely adorable. can't wait 'til i'm ready to have babies when i get all settled with my career & such.

btw, she's the daughter of Jessica Alba & Cash Warren.

i feel so freaking gross. i've been feeling blah for a while now, and i couldn't really figure out why. then i realized when it all started. well, when it REALLY started. i kind of started getting a little bummy when i left for school. nothing too bad though, i did my hair and makeup everyday and rpetty much just worse a decent shirt and jeans to class. but then march of last year, i fell and fucked up my knee. i spent about 5 or 6 months on crutches. THAT's when i stopped giving a fuck. i was injured the whole summer. did absolutely nothing. didnt do anything with my hair. just swiped on some homemade tinted moisturizer (i'll share with you guys how i do that later) and that was it. it was terrible. then the knee was getting better, i went back to school, i was away for 2.5 weeks, then my mom died. now this is when i REALLY stopped caring. i'm not even gonna go into detail all the stuff i had to do in the months after cuz it's a long, ridic story. but, um, yeah. i pretty much stopped eating and lost 35 lbs. and i'm happy as hell about that, lol. but uh, my appetite is just weird now. among other things, but anyway, i've decided it's time to get myself back together. for one. i'm getting a gym membership. i feel so out of shape. hell, i don't FEEL out of shape, i AM out of shape. ew. those 35 lbs? still mostly gone, but i keep gaining and losing these 5-10 lbs. kind of annoying. but i wanna lose more. i don't really have a goal, i just wanna be healthy. second of all, i just need to put more effort into my daily appearance. i've been kind of inspired by my new jobs. the girls there are freaking BEAUTIFUL. i'd do some of them, haha. j/k. but it's like a hottie factory up there. i wish i could grow an ass though. it's pretty tragic how flat it is. and i wanna be more outgoing! it's not that i'm shy, i'd say i'm more reserved. i guess maybe those 2 words are kind of interchangeable, but to me, reserved means more that you're quiet when you don't know the person very well and you start to open up later. i kind of got in that habit during my middle school years and some of HS because people judged me because of how i spoke, the music i listened to, the fact that i had a diverse group of friends, etc. i've learned not to give a damn. i'm proper as hell and always will be. and i'm proud of it. my mama paid too much money to send my butt through private school to have me walkin' around sounding/acting like i didn't go there. psh. but i really wanna meet more people. i haven't had a boyfriend in 4 years. (?!?!?!) crazy, right? i mean, a few guys have told me that i'm such a good catch, but all they do is try (and FAIL) to get some. boy, bye. idk, i guess i'm just kind of rambling, but i just feel like when you're in your 20's, you're supposed to be at the height of your physical potential. and i feel like i'm wasting it. so, i gotta get it together, babes!
